About
The exhibition looks at Soto's work from the early 1950s to the late 1980s, the period in which he experimented most with optical effects, geometry and the viewer's movement. Soto was born in Ciudad Bolívar in 1923 and died in Paris in 2005.
MASP's artistic director Adriano Pedrosa and assistant curator Mateus Nunes curated the show, with assistance from Isabela Ferreira Loures. It opens alongside a second Venezuelan show at the museum, on Manuel Herreros and Mateo Manaure.
